The feelings between them did not disappear; they merely waited. With everyone gathered beneath the same roof for the celebrations, shared corridors, familiar looks and unwelcome memories make pretence increasingly difficult. On one side is an official engagement, announced and welcomed by the whole family. On the other is an obsession that was never properly resolved. Both know precisely where the boundary lies and what they must not do, but knowledge offers little protection when neither has truly moved on. The visit has only begun, and the past is already pressing into every conversation.
