About this title
Victoria is Claire's mother. She invited herself onto the trip, and she is nothing like the quiet relative he had pictured: sharp-tongued, playful, and never quite where the conversation expects her to be. What was supposed to be a simple break turns into one long lesson about the gap between what a man plans and what a man actually does. Claire notices the small things. Lucas notices them too, and keeps getting them wrong. The holiday is far from over, the pool is still there, and Victoria is still setting the pace.
