The curtains were open, and the woman inside was Lexi, his best friend's mother. It should have stayed a single awkward second. Instead it became a habit, then a nightly ritual, then something much closer to an obsession he cannot switch off. What happens across the street grows bolder week after week, and every ordinary conversation with Lexi becomes harder to sit through. The strangest part, though, is the suspicion taking shape in the back of his mind: that she knows exactly who has been watching. The open question is what she intends to do about it.
