Thirsty Dunes
Lucas never expected an archaeological expedition deep in the Sahara to leave him isolated at an oasis with Eliza, his sophisticated stepmother. With no quick route out and almost nothing to break the silence, the desert heat begins to affect them both in troubling ways.

About this title
Days of golden dunes give way to nights under open stars, and the isolation steadily strips away every distraction. There is no one else to speak with, little to occupy Lucas's thoughts, and no simple way to leave. A forbidden tension settles into their temporary refuge, forcing him to wrestle with impulses he does not want to acknowledge. Eliza's looks make her own position increasingly hard to misread. Each evening, the moral boundaries they brought with them seem less secure against the wild setting and their constant proximity. Lucas keeps trying to preserve the line between them, but the real uncertainty is whether either of them still means to respect it by the time they can return.
