About this title
Their work starts conventionally enough, with open textbooks, demanding study sessions and a course of material to cover in the library's hush. That familiar lesson plan soon falls away. Mrs. Fujisawa becomes personally invested in Kaito's education and moves beyond grammar and formulae towards a subject absent from any school timetable. She leads each session with an authority he finds difficult to oppose, while the distinction between tutoring and something else grows steadily less clear. For Kaito, who has no experience of this particular kind of instruction, every meeting raises fresh uncertainty. He must work out what lesson she truly intends to teach him, and what will be left between them once the course reaches its end.
