About this title
The joke stirs up emotions Mark has kept buried for years, and the night quickly stops going to anyone's plan. Misread signals build upon one another, long-standing friendships come under strain, and the group's familiar confidence gives way to an uneasy new reality. As events gather momentum, Mark can no longer dismiss what has surfaced or control where it leads. The story keeps returning to the delicate boundary between dependable friendship and an all-consuming passion, while each attempt to restore normality exposes another uncomfortable truth. Once everyone drops the roles they have been playing, it is far from clear what, if anything, will remain intact.
