The lessons begin as they should: intensive sessions in the silence of the library, textbooks open, a syllabus to work through. That traditional curriculum does not survive long. Mrs. Fujisawa takes a far more personal interest in Kaito's education, moving on from grammar and formulas to a subject the school never covered, and she does it with an authority he cannot quite resist.
